While my official role is software design engineer at SRON, I also have a background in astrophysics, aerospace electronics, and systems engineering, along with a deep passion for space missions. SRON provides the ideal environment for me to apply this diverse expertise to the projects I work on.

Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detectors (MKIDs)

Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detectors (MKIDs) are cutting-edge cryogenic detectors which are highly valued in far-infrared and sub-mm astronomy due to their exceptional sensitivity and the ability to multiplex to read out large arrays. At SRON, we not only develop these detectors but also the readout electronics and software required to operate them. I develop the software that enables communication, calibration, and characterization at both the component and system levels. This expertise also allows me to provide systems engineering support for future MKID missions.

Egress

Egress is SRON’s ground support software package is crucial for the readout and control of electronic instruments across projects at various stages of development. Part of my responsibilities at SRON include maintaining and enhancing this software to ensure it meets the needs of our evolving projects.
