The Astrophysics Centre for Multimessenger studies in Europe (ACME) has kicked off its activities in Paris. This EU-funded project aims to optimize the European-wide accessibility and cohesion of multiple astroparticle and astronomy research infrastructures, such as VIRGO, KM3NeT, Auger Prime and LOFAR, to realize multi-messenger astrophysics.
forty institutions
ACME brings together forty institutions from forteen countries. It will act as a pathfinder to broaden and improve access to the respective research infrastructures. This will improve interoperable systems for a rapid identification of potentially interesting astrophysical events. The datasets of the ACME infrastructures will also be open to other disciplines and increase citizen engagement.
twee ACME-projecten
SRON will contribute to two ACME work packages by hosting a visitor program to share its expertise in X-ray spectroscopy and by providing access to the SPEX database of high-resolution X-ray spectra of different atoms. Astronomical X-ray observations need this database for calibration.
